Title
Unwanted Prompt with Windows Authentication
Problem

This problem only occurs in certain environments with versions 1.16 and 1.17 of XFile.

When using the XFRequest or AXFFile object to post to an application using Windows Integrated authentication the user gets domain login prompt, even though the user was already authenticated. If the user clicks OK, the upload proceeds anyway.

This issue was introduced in version 1.16, when new functionality was added to XFile to allow the user to be prompted with the standard WinInet prompt if authentication fails. The new functionality was added mainly to support Basic Authentication without having to pass the username and password in client-side script. Xfile usually passes authentication credentials smoothly and the prompt is never seen. However, in certain cases this prompting behavior was getting triggered unnecessarily.

Solution

This issue was fixed in version 2.0 of XFile. The best solution is to upgrade. As this will be a major upgrade, if you have a Platinum, Gold or Silver support contract, or FileUp Professional Edition with Annual Maintenence, the upgrade will be free. If you do not have an Annual Maintenance plan, you can purchase an upgrade from our website or by contacting Sales.
