Xfile crash after selecting the first file on 64 Bit workstation
Hello,

Is the XFile Active X component that runs on the client browser compatible with 64 bit OS's?

I can use it on Windows seven 32 bit without issue but on Windows seven 64 bit IE crash.

Of course I use the 32bit version of IE that is present on 64 bit Windows seven workstation.

No problem with installation, No problem with download.

But when I select a file to upload, the file is appended to the list and the popup is freezed.

It's impossible to select a second file or even upload or cancel. I have to kill the ie process.

thanks for help !

Re: Xfile crash after selecting the first file on 64 Bit workstation

XFile should work in 32-bit IE on a 64-bit OS.  What exact version of XFile is installed?  What is the version of IE?  Are you using XFile's visual or non-visual control?  Can you reproduce the problem with our samples?

Thanks,

Joy

Thank you for your answer Joy.

I'm using Xfile V2 (visual control)
I don't have sample for these version.

But there is some precisions :

Windows 7 32Bit + Internet Explore 8 => No issue
Windows 7 32Bit + Internet Explore 9 => No issue
Windows 7 64Bit + Internet Explore 8 => No issue
Windows 7 64Bit + Internet Explore 9 => Crash

Here is the place where it crashes:

Re: Xfile crash after selecting the first file on 64 Bit workstation

Hi John,

Apologies for the delay.  Can you please tell us the complete version number of XFile?  There have been many minor releases of version 2.   We need to exact build number.   Go to Tools>Manage Add-Ons.  In the "show" dropdown, select "All add-ons".  Find XFile and Select "All Add-ons"  Add the "Version" column if it isn't showing and please tell us what you see.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling XFile on this client machine?  See this KB article: Install or Uninstall XFile

Thanks,

Joy

Re: Xfile crash after selecting the first file on 64 Bit workstation

Sorry for the delay.  That is a very old version.  Is upgrading a possibility? The current version of XFile is 2.5.3.  Here is a page that lists all the changes that have been made in the product: http://support.softartisans.com/support-114.aspx  Nothing was specific to IE9 on 64-bit machines, but IE9 didn't even exists and most people weren't using 64-bit machines when the version you are using came out.

You can find information about how to purchase an upgrade here: http://fileup.softartisans.com/fileup-pe-xfile-upgrades

Please let us know if upgrading resolves the problem.

Thanks,

Joy
