XFile
Title
XFile is still using an expired version after installing the full version
Problem
After installing a full, non-expiring version of XFile the browser is still using an expired version of XFile. The following message will appear:
This evaluation copy has expired on <date>. Please visit the SoftArtisans web
site for a non-expiring version.
Solution
This is most likely because an evaluation copy of XFile was installed in the past (via our Demo site, possibly) and the browser is still using this copy when visiting other sites using XFile.

To fix this, open Windows Explorer and browse to %WINDIR%\System32\SoftArtisans.

For example: "C:\WINDOWS\System32\SoftArtisans"

If there is a folder named XFile in there, close all open web browsers, and delete the folder. The next time you visit a web page that uses XFile, you should be prompted to download and install the new version.

Another way to avoid this problem is to append the version number of the XFile DLL in the codebase attribute of the <OBJECT> tag. This is the recommended solution to make sure that your clients always use the version of XFile currently on your server. Please see article 243 for instructions.
