Title |
SA-FileManager unable to register if 8.3 filename creation is shut off |
Problem |
During the standard installation or while trying to register safilemanager.dll manually using RegSvr32.exe, the registration will fail when 8.3 file name support is turned off using the System Policy Editor.
|
Solution |
There are two possible solutions for this problem:
- Turn on long file name support using the System Policy Editor. Open the Start menu, select Run, type regedt32, and click OK. Select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE window. Open,
/SYSTEM
/CURRENTCONTROLSET
/CONTROL
/FILESYSTEM
If, NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation:Reg_Dword is 1, change it to 0.
Then restart your server for the changes to take affect.
- Move safilemgr.dll to a folder which fits the 8.3 file naming convention, and rename it so that it fits the 8.3 file naming convention as well.
