| OfficeWriter-generated files will not open in browser |
| Problem |
| When OpenInBrowser is set to true, the Excel spreadsheet or Word document does not open in the Internet Explorer Browser window as expected. Instead, the spreadsheet opens in Excel or the document opens in Word. The cause is likely that the "Browse in Same Window" option is disabled for .doc and .xls filetypes. If this is the case, the browser will not try to open them using the browser plug-ins, sending them to the applications instead. |
| Solution |
The "Browse in Same Window" option can be accessed through the Folder Options menu in Windows Explorer. In order to enable Internet Explorer plug-ins to open .doc and .xls files in the browser window:
1) Open an instance of Windows Explorer.
2) Select "Folder Options..." from the Tools menu.
3) Click on the "File Types" tab and select DOC.
4) Click on the "Advanced" button and make sure "Browse in Same Window" is checked.
5) Repeat the process for XLS.
Your OfficeWriter-generated files should now be opened in the Internet Explorer browser window when OpenInBrowser is set to true. |
