Signing OfficeWriter Assistant
OfficeWriter Assistant dlls are in a CAB file that is signed by SoftArtisans. When the user
gets a security prompt the first time they download the Active-X control,
it will display the SoftArtisans company name. If you wish to have your own company name
displayed instead, you must create a new CAB file and sign it with your own digital certificate.
To sign SoftArtisans Assistant you will need:
- A Code Signing Certificate
To sign the Active-X control, you must obtain a standard RSA certificate from a
Certificate Authority such as Verisign or Thawte.
- A Code Signing Tool
To sign a .cab file for Internet Explorer with Microsoft VM, use
Signcode.exe.
- A new CAB file containing Officewriter Assistant dlls and OWAssist.inf
Just extract the contents of OWAssist.cab to a directory. Modify OWAssist.inf if
you wish to change anything about the installation behavior on the client.
Create a new CAB file using any CABinet file generation tool.
CAB Signing Steps
- Obtain a standard RSA certificate from Verisign or Thawte.
- Obtain the code signing tool
Signcode.exe.
