  1. What versions of Microsoft Word does WordWriter support?

    WordWriter supports Microsoft Word 97, 2000, and 2002 (XP).

  2. Does WordWriter support all Microsoft Word features?

    WordWriter supports all Microsoft Word features except:

    • Document encryption - WordWriter cannot open an encrypted Word file.
    • The merge field options Mapped Field, Vertical Formatting, and NumberedItem.

  3. What software do I need on my server to run WordWriter?

  4. Does WordWriter include features that are not available in Microsoft Word?

    Yes. Unlike Microsoft Word, WordWriter can stream a Word File back to the browser. See Output Options.

    An ADO.NET DataSet, an ADO.NET DataTable, or an array.

  6. Can I include more than one data source in a single WordWriter template?

    No. In WordWriter 1.0, a template can bind to only one data source. A future version of WordWriter will support multiple data sources.

  7. What software do I need to create a WordWriter template?

    A WordWriter template is a Word document that contains merge fields. You can create a WordWriter template using Microsoft Word 97, 2000, or 2002 (XP).

  8. What software is required on the client to view a WordWriter generated file?

    To open a Word file generated by WordWriter, you can use:

    • Microsoft Word 97, 2000, 2002 (XP).
    • Microsoft's free Word Viewer. The Word Viewer allows the user to view and print Word 97 and 2000 files, but not to modify them.
    • Another application that supports the Word format, such as, StarOffice or OpenOffice for Unix.
